Bag Spotting: Babouska.

SS spotted Noor wearing a satchel from the Babouska line by Gucci.
The bag is quick loud and the shape doesn't do justice to the details, the only bag that can pull off the fringe at Gucci, is the indy. Spotted on Kareena a while ago.

Gucci Babouska Boston Bag, $ 1,995.

Naeem Khan: Magician at Work!

There are a lot of designers that i respect, love and admire. Many of them because of the struggle they went through, the revolution they brought about, the rules they broke and made!

I love Versace for their bravery, Gucci for their innovative yet wearable style, Chanel for being classy yet fashionable, Givenchy for its extreme, Gaultier for his love for art, Bottega for being the epitome of 'less is more' and Mc Queen for being the soldier of fashion! BUT given that i afford their pieces, not always can i wear them.

Yes i am a pakistani girl that does not wear sleeve less, or bare legs or go commando for the extreme matter of that! No wrongs or rights here. There is one designer though, Naeem Khan who makes pieces that are gorgeous, proper fused (east and west) and wearable! Surprised? so am i, every time! And no different this time... And so i present to you Naeem Khan Fall'09 second only to my first love, Etro.

Naeem Khan, Respect.

My All time favorites from Naeem Khan:

Spring '08, Fall '08.
Pre Fall '09, Spring '09,

I have a strong feeling that one of our 'great' designers will try a hand at 'being a little too inspired by his collection' FYI: SS is watching.

Trend Alert: Tye Dye!

YES! and its as easy as going to your local dyer, get the fabric you want! color you want! Yayyy...

Mathew Williamson Costume National

Richard Chai Anna Sui

Nida Azwar: Textile Trooper!

Nida Azwer is a designer with a different vision. Her garments are an ambitious bunch, they try to portray a modern silhouette with a traditional twist but only in a simpler way.
Some times the clothes border at amateur, the execution seems to lack in some places.

I rather like either the proper western look (The white dress with multi Bolero on Nadia) or proper eastern ( The 'angrakha' on Sanam)

Summer? Sunglasses!

SS spotted various celebrities wearing there favorite shades under the sun.
Sunglasses are an essential in a Pakistani girl's wardrobe! And don't be surprised if you see more than a few pairs ;) However the IT sunglasses now i not the 'more the bling' the better. Following clothes where the stress is more on silhouette than embellishment, the sunglasses is now more about the shape i.e. the frame than the amount of stones on the side!!

Erum and Amna choose the right shapes for their faces. However Maheen and Mahin are the defaulters, going for sizes much too big for their faces.

Here is Style Stripped's Guide to the hot shades NOW!

Monochrome: Safely Sure.

Monochrome is one look that needs hard work to go Wrong!
Various celebs were spotted wearing this look during the week.

Mehreen Syed keeps it simple with black and white yet interesting with the scrunch detail shirt and the wide waist belt.
Amna Kardar is polka merry in a shift dress that does her figure justice!
Hajra Hayat takes the oriental route with sheer detail.
Danial is cute as ever in a pintstripe mono vest over a black shirt :)

Mahid Khawar: A Simple Disposition.

Mahid Khawar's clothes are simple and beautiful. Not pretending to be a couture line like SO many of our designers! I especially like this shoot since its not over ambitious. The make up is GOOD, the photography is RIGHT and the clothes are PRETTY.

But is simplicity always the best policy? Say What?

Omar Mansoor: Young and Classy.

Hailing from Faisalabad Omar Mansoor is one designer taking the international route and so with passion.
His clothes are no fuss 'pretty clothes'. Entirely western though i think he needs to make a collection for the market here too.

The collection seems to jump in and out of a Flirty and Classy zone.
Check out his fun flirty and colorful pieces for the Bahrain Fashion Week.
