White Magic: TeeJays!

It's quiet tricky to be 'fashionable' in Pakistan, i say it plainly because it is hard to adopt western trends and international fashion into our envoirment and lets face it, is it less than 2 percent of our population who are comfortable with wearing sleeveless, backless etc. and even less who can pull it off! And when Karl Largerfeld went for an all white collection for his ready to wear line followed by a white wash at Elie Saab couture '09 it was eminent that designers, stores and shops worldwide would take up on this.
But who better than to take this gorgeously bewitching trend to the masses of Pakistan than Teejyas! Affordable, trendy and spot on!

It's refreshing to see Ather Shehzad finally go for a 'less is more' concept. I guess the 'gurus' are but learning ;)

Trend Alert: Ruffles!

Feminine Blouses, Chifon detailing and Satin waves... 'tis the season to ruffle!

Ayesha Sana, wearing too much ruffles, It is wise to keep the ruffle detail restricted to ONE section of the outfit. If you are a heavy top than avoid ruffles on the bust area. If your pear shaped than make sure you don't attract attention to the hip area. Play with it but keep it porportional.
...so HOW DO YOU RUFFLE?
If your going with a lot of ruffle then make sure the fabric is something flowy like chiffon and the color is either light shades or ONE tone (right). Break the outfit into three and not two, detract attention from the ruffles by injecting a block color look (middle). Add in pleats, silk buttons and other details to give the look more finese (left).

Shoewawa: Raeder Deed!

So our darling reader and regular commentator 'PINK' asked us for what she needs to look for when buying shoes, here is the SS guide on request!
Enjoy and make sure you guys comment.

Ok so let me talk you through this, The feminine trend is where you look for feminine details such as bows and crystals as on the Valentino... how cute are they! and lace such as on the Dolce's.
Gladiators are the must have summer flats, They take you from day to night and are oh so comfortable.
Then there is glitter, YES! glitter... if done right and NOT worn with pakistani couture it totally rocks, The miu miu golden ones might be too much but the Jimmy Choos are TDF! Say what?
Ok last is the suede trend, hmmmm so a bit of fall/winter creeping up there eh? Well yes suede is the hottest trend for fall/winter shoes!
.... Happy Shopping! and keep commenting!

From the Archives: Bottega 2005, WHAT!

SS is so pleased to spot a Bottega from wayyyy back then, yes before we were born and surely before you knew about Bottega hehe.
So here she is, love her dressing sense and subtle makeup and on top of that the naughty Knot!
.... her's is the black knot, which is equally hot. Who is she, spot her?

Spotted!: Chanel Large Tote.

Ahhh it's so good to finally spot something that's not a flap! Not that we wouldn't kill someone to get one! But the Chanel Large Tote on Roohi is a pleasant change indeed. Love how she pulls it off with a single color ensemble, lovely hair and that smile :)

When spotting brings you pleasure ... Drool!

It's so refreshing to see someone carrying a Bottega with such taste, and no wonder its form an event in London. Mehr was seen supporting a gorgeous kaftan-esq top with the Large Veneta.. Yummmy!

Low Down: Couture '09

SS brings to you the not so happening Couture report from the ramps of Paris this time. The fashion world has been suffering from various reasons, Designers a little too inspired, New designers having to take over for legends and yes, Recession!

Valentino'09
Valentino has been an un missable force in the fashion industry, Mr. Valentino being a living legend. His fashion sense has always been very feminine yet calculated. The garments have always been a great combination of timelessness and trends. However when the magician retired he gave the reigns for the House of Valentino to his 'accessory designers' Maria and Pier. They have tried hard to maintain the name of Valentino let alone try to take it further. The pressure of 'keeping' to the aesthetics of Valentino had taken its toll on them with the duosticking to a very Valentino woman in their initial collections, and for the good as proved by the latest collection.
Unfortunately the latest collection lost too much of the Valentino woman. If your not at the front row with the Valentino signature glaring at you, the clothes seem to be too dangerous, bordering on cheap :S. IT was like a mix of Valentino and a new high street brand with garments jumping in and out of the V aesthetic. Say What?

Elie Saab '09
Regular readers will know that Elie Saab and Etro are strong favorites around here. But this time Elie has totally lost the plot. The designer who got his break when Halle Berry wore his boddy hugging gown to the Oscars, has embarrassed himself with an all white collection. THE 'Karl Lagerfield' having done it for chanel only 6 months ago on the same stage, an all white was a bad idea. With news of gasps and giggles on the front row it is highly dis appointing. There was however immense craftsmanship with the chiffon flowers, raw silk ripped detailing and other complicated stuff, phew! The only upside being that may be Elie is gearing up for a younger, more trend conscious customer?... Say What?

... watch this space for further reviews.

Speedy Spottin'

Louis Vuitton has died down with the death of the IT bag, been there done that! and yes even bought the T shirt.
However the speedy lives on, the fact that it's not an LV monogram canvas will keep us NOT sad for now.

Iraj: Fierce Feeline.

Iraj might be from another decade, but her instincts serve fashion right! This tall, gorgeous dusky beauty shows us just how the cat eyes need to be done!

Siam: Trash-a-nator!

It's totally cool to be wearing what you like, to show your alternate dressing, I totally get it! But there have to be ways subtle than this to blurt it out.
I don't see anything special in his clothes let alone his own sense of style or rather the lack of it!
His latest collection was full of 'ready made' neck lines available all over liberty and beyond.
I mean if the fashion industry is giving you so much exposure, which btw totally escapes me, then at least prove your worth, work hard to show your talent.
... and what's with him appearing in all his campaigns? Your totally not the USP darlin'

So i know your dyeing to tell me how much you like his sheer top, with the fake belt, Comment!

Chanel: Foot Candy!

Couture season has so many expectations stringed to it, Designer houses come out with all their force with the show, the garments, the models and the props!
Shoes are one detail that make or break a garment, this time around chanel has totally stolen the show, with sexy and bejeweled shoes.

and the bride wears? Satin Booties of course, Magic!

Chanel : Naked Ambition.

SS spotted Timmy at at a recent event with Deepak perwani and a gorgeous Naked chanel flap.
The bag is one of Karl's favorite daring designs, clear versions are for a woman who has nothing to hide! A bag in a bag may be? or a wallet? Absolutely!

Trend Alert: White Denim.

Like it or not summer brings the color white in full force, regardless of the fact that Chanel couture recently showed deep hues of maroon and navy, white is here to stay!
Want to look summer hot a 'la Kate Moss and Kate Bosworth? Go buy White denim!

Hala Syed: Hol'a at ya girl!

Hala Syed is the in house designer for Labels. The latest campaign gives off a cool and composed feel. Its the time when the designer has found herself in a comfort zone. When the signature style is eminent and yet innovation is still pursued.
Western wear need not be over the top, a skin show or total couture. It needs to be a confident interpretation of what 'YOU' think western wear should look like, feel like and be priced like!

Price Range: 4,000-7,000, shocked? so are we! in a good way :)

What do you think, a step in the right direction for Pakistani western wear?
